A Weekend in Budapest

When my friend and I both headed off to CEE to work for 6 months – her to Vienna, me to Bucharest – we immediately started chatting about the places we wanted to visit while we were over there. Once out there, I was surprised to find that travel around Eastern Europe from Bucharest wasn’t quite as easy as I’d imagined. It turns out flying from London to a lot of places in CEE isn’t that much more expensive and doesn’t take that much longer. If anything, several places are actually easier to get to from London. Thankfully, however, the first place on our CEE Bucket List was an easy flight from Bucharest: Budapest.

Seven European countries where you can find a really great stew

As far as I’m concerned, you just cannot beat a good stew. Not only can it taste insanely good, if done right, but it’s filling and comforting. All in all, it’s basically the perfect meal. Thankfully, many countries seem to agree with that conclusion so when I’m out and about in a new place, looking for traditional eats, I can always justify a stew. My UNESCO World Heritage Checklist

After doing my list of the Seven Wonders of the World, I wondered how many UNESCO World Heritage sites I’d seen without knowing it and how many I had left to do. It turns out, that out of the 1,121 (as updated) preserved cultural and natural landmarks, I have been to 58.
